Changing exhibitions and collections

SAK Kunstbygning presents 15–20 exhibitions each year focusing on contemporary art and visual culture, along with cultural events and art salons. The programme reflects a broad range of artistic practices and current tendencies.

In addition to temporary exhibitions, the building houses a permanent collection of works by sculptor Kai Nielsen, an extensive collection of South Funen art, a specialised art library and a lithographic print workshop.

Historical roots in Svendborg

SAK Kunstbygning originates from SAK – Svendborg Amts Kunstforening, founded in 1941 by local artists and artisans. Before moving into its present premises, exhibitions were held at various locations in Svendborg, including hotels, Svendborg Borgerforening and the former indoor swimming pool near Krøyers Have.
