The Castle Route is a 660 km signposted cycling route, mainly on asphalt, divided into 14 stages across Fyn and the surrounding islands. From Svendborg, the route can be joined in three different directions, making it possible to choose both shorter day trips and longer cycling journeys through the Fyn landscape.

The stage between Nyborg and Svendborg is 70 km long and passes through varied scenery with several climbs along the way. The route mainly follows paved roads with a few short gravel sections. Along the route, cyclists pass Broholm Slot (castle), which inspired H.C. Andersen’s novel “Only a Fiddler”, as well as several vineyards. The stage offers open countryside, small villages and views across the South Fyn area.

The stage between Svendborg and Rudkøbing is 29 km long and fully paved. This flat route crosses Svendborgsundbroen with views of The South Fyn Archipelago before continuing across Tåsinge towards Langeland. Along the way, the route passes Svendborgsund Bryghus, Landet Kirke and Bregninge Kirke. Via the Siø causeway, the route continues to Rudkøbing with coastal views, small harbour environments and open archipelago landscapes.

The stage between Svendborg and Faaborg is 42 km long and becomes hillier around Faaborg. The route passes through the South Fyn countryside with fields, woodland areas and small villages. Along the way, cyclists pass Skjoldemose Gods and Kaleko Mølle, regarded as Denmark’s oldest mill. The stage combines nature, cultural history and coastal scenery.
